Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) has vowed to apprehend those responsible for the killing of a security officer during an ambush on a telecommunications convoy.<\/p>\n

On May 23, 2024, engineers from the Universal Service and Access Fund (USAF) were attacked by armed youth in Kethelen Manyabol Payam, Gumuruk County, while delivering telecommunication equipment.<\/p>\n

The attackers looted six trucks carrying towers and construction materials and killed a security personnel escorting the convoy.<\/p>\n

Gola Boyoi Gola, Chief Administrator of the GPAA, condemned the attack and pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are committed to holding these criminals accountable,\u201d Gola said in a statement extended to Sudans Post. \u201cMobile Operators (MNOs) can be assured that we will recover their looted assets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gola emphasized the administration\u2019s commitment to creating a safe environment for businesses and travelers operating in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will work closely with the National Government to implement robust security measures,\u201d he stated. \u201cOur administration is resolute in ensuring the safety of all travelers, including those providing essential services.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chief Administrator underlined the negative impact of the attack on the local population.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis senseless act not only endangers lives but also disrupts the flow of essential services,\u201d Gola said. \u201cWe offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased security officer and condemn this criminal act in the strongest terms possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
