Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>JUBA \u2014 The US-Africa Committee of the African Energy Chamber\u2019s (AEC) will host a Power Breakfast on Thursday 16th December 2021 at The Army And Navy Club 901 17th St NW, Washington D.C., featuring the participation of Hon. Puot Kang Chol, the Minister of Petroleum for the Republic of South Sudan.<\/p>\n

The Minister will discuss opportunities for U.S. investors in South Sudan\u2019s oil, gas, and energy sectors. The discussion will be driven by Jude Kearney-Managing Partner, Asafo US, Dean Foreman, Chief Economic Officer of the American Petroleum Institute, Dr. Sara Vakhshouri, founder and president of SVB Energy International, and Derek Campbell, Executive Chairman of African Metals Group.<\/p>\n

With South Sudan\u2019s upcoming licensing round expected to drive exploration and production, the role that U.S. energy companies play in ensuring the growth of the country\u2019s economy is key to developing the sector.<\/p>\n

The interaction of oil companies amongst the country\u2019s different communities, the contribution of oil and gas to the country\u2019s society and economy, the expansion and innovation of the industry brought about by US investment and the positive role of local participation and job creation will be key highlights touched upon at the event.<\/p>\n

The Power Breakfast will permit the Minister to discuss climate change and energy poverty in South Sudan and to provide updates on oil field licenses, services, and developments in the country.<\/p>\n

They will also provide insight into the country\u2019s experiences with U.S. sanctions, including the impact that such restrictions have on their effort to promote greater investment into the African nation.<\/p>\n

During the breakfast, there will be important discussions on the restrictions on trade and business between the U.S. and South Sudan in the energy sector, with the Minister calling for enhanced technology and innovation so as to optimize and modernize a vitally important sector in East Africa\u2019s only oil producer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis meeting reflects the critical and lucrative role that U.S. companies can play in building African nations through their respective energy industries,\u201d stated Mr. Kearney.<\/p>\n

He added that \u201cthere are opportunities in South Sudan and Africa to advance the agenda of sustainability, opportunities that may serve to solidify the continent\u2019s long-term goals of using it natural resources as a vital transitional energy source while repositioning the U.S. as a primary partner for South Sudan\u2019s energy development and maintaining Africa\u2019s commitment to the energy transition.\u201d<\/p>\n
