Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The High-Level Standing Committee on the Interparty Dialogue is expected to deliver the final document to President Salva Kiir on Monday.<\/p>\nThe committee announced last week on SSBC TV that a final document would be sent to President Kiir after the parties assessed the chapters, articles, and sub-articles that have been implemented and those that are still outstanding.<\/p>\n
Elia Lomuro, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and a member of the High-level Committee, stated that Kiir would determine South Sudan\u2019s political destiny following the document\u2019s submission.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have now looked at the number of activities, articles, and sub-articles that have been completed, ones that are in progress, and the ones that are pending,\u201d Lomuro said.<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cSo, we have agreed that on Monday, we will clean up the document and meet in the afternoon so that all parties will finalize the discussion and provide a way forward. The full document will be presented to President Kiir to call a meeting of the Presidency.\u201d<\/p>\n
On June 28, 2024, the High-Level Standing Committee disclosed that the evaluation document, which was meant to appraise the achievements and obstacles of the 2018 peace accord, had not been executed.<\/p>\n
Tut Gatluak, chairperson of the High-Level Standing Committee for the Implementation of the Agreement and presidential advisor on security affairs, pointed out that the committee examined the peace deal with all parties chapter by chapter.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have evaluated the peace agreement chapter by chapter, and all the parties\u2019 signatories to the peace agreement agree on all the things that will bring peace, security, and stability to the people of South Sudan,\u201d Gatluak said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have assured the citizen that all the parties have signed the document, and regardless of the implemented part of the document, we have blessed the document,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
With just less than six months to the elections, several critical tasks still need to be addressed to ensure a smooth and timely electoral process.<\/p>\n
The creation of the permanent constitution and the financing and operationalization of the election-related institutions in charge of organising and carrying out the elections are just a few of the unfinished business.<\/p>\n
