Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The leadership of the Azande Kingdom, alongside dignitaries and representatives from the region and neighboring countries, officially laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new royal palace in Bazungua, Yambio County in Western Equatoria State on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The event coincided with the third anniversary of the kingdom\u2019s restoration on 9 February 2022, after it was dismantled by British colonial authorities in 1905.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the ceremony, His Majesty King Atoroba Peni Rikito Gbudue reaffirmed his commitment to peace, unity, and cultural preservation among the Azande people.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeace and unity are the pillars of the Azande Kingdom. A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. Since our restoration in 2022, we have remained dedicated to safeguarding our traditions while promoting harmony among our people,\u201d he said. \u201cOur traditions should be a source of strength and progress, not intimidation. Fear and division have no place in our society. The misuse of sacred customs, including mystical practices, must be approached with wisdom and responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

For his part, Sebit Angelo Obebe, speaking on behalf of South Sudan\u2019s diverse ethnic groups, highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence among the country\u2019s 64 tribes. He emphasized that the Azande Kingdom embraces inclusivity, calling for stronger collaboration and cultural unity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Azande Kingdom is not just for the Azande alone. It is a symbol of unity where all ethnic groups can coexist in peace and respect,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the representatives from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Central African Republic (CAR) reaffirmed that the Azande Kingdom transcends borders, belonging to all Azande people worldwide.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis kingdom is not limited to South Sudan alone. We urge all Azande, wherever they are, to recognize and embrace it as a unifying heritage given to us by God,\u201d one representative stated.<\/p>\n

The ceremony brought together government officials, religious leaders, development partners, and representatives from CAR and DRC, reflecting a shared commitment to preserving Azande traditions while fostering a peaceful and prosperous future.<\/p>\n

As the foundation stone was laid, the Azande people and their allies celebrated the milestone, vowing to strengthen their cultural identity and ensure that the kingdom remains a pillar of unity, peace, and development for generations to come.<\/p>\n
