Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The government delegation and SPLM\/A-IO Kit-Gwang faction have been urged not to contradict any provision of the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS).<\/p>\n

The Executive Director for Community Empowerment for Progress Organisation (CEPO), Edmund Yakani, has urged the government and the SPLM\/A-IO Kit-Gwang faction to reach a sound deal at the Khartoum Intergovernmental Authority on Development-led meeting.<\/p>\n

On January 9, 2022, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) invited the SPLM\/A-IO Kit-Gwang faction, led by Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual, for a face-to-face meeting with the delegation of the Government of South Sudan in Khartoum.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, Yakani said the talks between the two parties [Kit-Gwang and the government delegation] should focus on the formulation of a Revitalised Transitional Government of National Unity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe IGAD-led process of the face-to-face meeting should be within the framework of the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan,\u201d Yakani stressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe immediate expectation from this meeting should be the observance of the ceasefire provision of the 2017 ceasefire agreement,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

He revealed that dialogue is the best approach for sorting out political differences among conflicting parties. The activist said violence never benefits the people of South Sudan.<\/p>\n

He added the recent deadly armed violence among the conflicting factions of the SPLA-IO in Magenis is senseless and gains nobody by inflicting suffering on the people of South Sudan in Upper Nile State.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is time to talk without harder preconditions for the realization of a peaceful settlement of political crises,\u201d Yakani said.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Yakani also called on the presidency to urgently reach an agreement on the unification of command before the graduation of the first batch of the unified forces. He warned that any delay in the genuine implementation of the transitional security arrangements tasks would be a dangerous and grave mistake.<\/p>\n
