Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The police have launched a manhunt for more suspects in the recent bank robbery incident in Juba.<\/p>\n

The South Sudan Police spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin, said apart from the three suspects already arrested, more suspects are still at large, and the police are investigating them to issue an arrest warrant for them.<\/p>\n

Last week, the police arrested three suspected bank robbers in the Munuki residential area after the residents reported them.<\/p>\n

In a telephone interview yesterday, Maj. Gen. Justin told the City Review that since the three suspected robbers were arrested, no case of robbery had been reported to them yet.<\/p>\n

He said the organised forces had been deployed everywhere to maintain peace in all areas of Juba City.<\/p>\n

Maj. Gen Justin said all the suspects would be arraigned at once.<\/p>\n

He appealed to the residents in Juba and around them to cooperate with the police in reporting criminal cases to them.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy appeal to our communities is that they should help the police report those involved in criminal activities because, without the civilians, it will be very difficult for the police to get them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In 2020, security forces arrested 33 suspects for participating in armed robberies around Juba during the partial lockdown. The suspects arrested were involved in various robbery incidents at local commercial banks.<\/p>\n

According to the police report on the suspects, among them were four foreigners, three nationals, and some members of the organised forces. Police said the suspects robbed about US$211,700 from the affected businesses and institutions.<\/p>\n
