Africa-Press<\/a> – South-Sudan<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan\u2019s Minister of Health Elizabeth Achuei is appealing to doctors at Juba teaching Hospitals to volunteer to deliver medical services to the people of South Sudan even if there is no salary.<\/p>\n

This comes a week after health workers at Juba Teaching Hospital gave a 72-hour ultimatum for the government to meet their demands including the payment of salary.<\/p>\n

But speaking during the closing ceremony of a five-day leadership and governance conference on Friday, the minister said doctors should not complain of support adding that that there are other things that can be done without money.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t see the reason why people complain of lack of funding and support meanwhile there are other things that we can do without any support from the partners,\u201d the senior government official said, according to the No1 Citizen Newspaper.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should appreciate the small amount of money that we are getting right now like for me I am getting 10,000 SSP that our grandparents were not receiving before but they were delivering services to the people voluntarily,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

The senior government official further urged the doctors to volunteer for the sack of the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really appeal to my colleagues here to utilize the principles of leadership and governance and to ensure that because good governance will prevent whatever kind of things we have discuss for the last five days, good governance will ensure there is accountability, rule of law, transparency as well as consensus that we have just discuss,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
