Africa-Press<\/a> – South-Sudan<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan and Turkey are working to boost and strengthen their military cooperation, Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs Angelina Teny said Sunday.<\/p>\n

Teny who returned to Juba on Sunday following a week-long state visiting to Turkey said she discuss with her Turkish counterpart cooperation in the military field especially on training of forces.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the reasons why we visit Turkey was basically to make all our contact and dealing in defense sector official in a transparent manner and in compliance with International Humanitarian laws,\u201d Teny told reporters in Juba.<\/p>\n

Teny revealed discussion also touched on how to deal with the UN arm embargo.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have discussed a lot and it was a very fruitful discussion that would have a good future for South Sudan, a future that would help us transit to proper democracy,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

She said that the Turkish government has pledged to support transformation of the security sector of South Sudan.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have discussed the possibility of support for South Sudan which is in process for the implementation of chapter two of the agreement, unification of forces and support for the transformation of our army forces,\u201d she stressed.<\/p>\n

She disclosed told reporters on Sunday that she will have another visit to Turkey this month to finalize the draft military cooperation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe met with the Minister of Defense and we discussed the possibility of working together. We will have another visit this month to discuss the possibility of cooperation especially on military industry and production,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a draft kind of agreement. We brought this agreement to Juba so that we can discuss with authorities since the agreement entails many thing including training,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
