Africa-Press<\/a> – South-Sudan<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The wife of former governor of South Sudan\u2019s defunct Western Lakes state Deng Maber Yuol has died by reportedly committing suicide, state police chief has said.<\/p>\n

Major-General Madut Ngor said in an interview with Radio Tamazuj said Anhom Mayom Mabor shot herself with her husband\u2019s gun on Wednesday morning at Deng-Nhial residential area in the morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, the wife of a former governor of the defunct Western Lakes State has committed suicide with her husband\u2019s gun. Her husband the former governor Deng Mamer Yuol is present in Rumbek,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The senior police officer said the former governor has now been arrested and is being investigated over the death of the woman in Lakes and was in police custody.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer husband, the former governor is taken by police and is in the police custody undergoing police investigation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Separately, a police investigator identified by Radio Tamazuj as Dut Manyang Majok said Mamer was taken to military barrack after he threatened to also kill himself and said other family members were also being questioned.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reason why the former governor was taken to the military barracks in Panda Hotel is that the former governor John Deng Mamer Yuol was threatening to kill himself. But the police will continue to do its investigation against the former governor,\u201d Manyang said.<\/p>\n
