Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The church is commonly known as the fountain of peace. Its role is to preach the words of peace among its believers so that they may have salvation.<\/p>\n

To explain further, the Church is an embodiment of soul-healing through the promise of eternal life. Not only are the congregants supposed to be spiritually nourished, but they should also be able to find peace in their own lives and with their neighbours.<\/p>\n

This gives the church leaders the responsibility to go and make disciples of Jesus Christ. Through proselytism, we are supposed to have a change in our lives to live as children of God. The power of our having accepted the gospel does not only come from what we feel or what we know, but also from the way we serve others, especially the poorest, the most marginal, and the most defenceless.<\/p>\n

However, evangelism becomes so meaningless when the believers and the church leaders, who are the peace-builders, start fighting among themselves. It means we have not completely understood the teaching of Jesus about his Kingdom.<\/p>\n

In John 18:36, Jesus tells us clearly, \u201cMy kingdom is not of this world. My servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another. \u201d Jesus did not incite his disciples against those who did not want him because his kingdom is not of this world.<\/p>\n

The Kingdom of God that Jesus Christ talked about has continued to act through the Holy Spirit. The Church is the result of God\u2019s action through His Spirit. So, anyone who becomes the leader of the church must act like Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

The clerics have to ensure that the church that they are leading acts as the spring of peace that ensures peaceful coexistence among people.<\/p>\n

It must show good examples to other institutions by being peace mediators but not problem creators, where instead of addressing people\u2019s problems, others come to address their problems. We must be guided by the Holy Spirit as the founder of all churches on Pentecost day.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, in South Sudan, most of the churches that operate in the country seem to be guided by the flesh rather than the spirit.<\/p>\n

The faithful seem to believe in what they see and touch rather than the Holy Trinity. In a time of crisis in the Church, the faithful are supposed to seek the intervention of the Holy Spirit instead of running to the politicians or community to address their issues.<\/p>\n

We must seek God because the church is founded by the power of the Holy Spirit and there is no point in the church\u2019s problems being addressed politically.<\/p>\n
