Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan army has denied that it was engaged in clashes with the holdout South Sudan National Salvation Front (NAS) led by General Thomas Cirilo Swaka.<\/p>\n

In a statement this week, NAS said the clashes occurred on Wednesday and said the alleged SSPDF attack was repulsed following hours of fighting between the two belligerents which are holding peace negotiations in the Italian capital Rome.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsing Katigiri and Loka West as the launching pad, the SSPDF conducted a daring incursion into NAS positions,\u201d the National Salvation Front said in a statement extended to Sudans Post on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we report, the military engagement is ongoing and NAS gallant forces are actively resisting these attacks resulted in desertion of some SSPDF soldiers to Juba especially those who did not want to be used by Kiir regime in keeping them in power,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

But the South Sudan People\u2019s Defense Forces (SSPDF) spokesman Gen. Lul Ruai Koang denied the claim and said the two sides are not currently at war in any part of the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not at war with the National Salvation Front,\u201d Maj Gen. Lul said, according to The City Review.<\/p>\n
