Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan’s Lakes State Legislative Assembly was officially opened by Governor Rin Tueny Mabor on Monday.<\/p>\n

Addressing members of the state assembly during the swearing-in of the deputy speaker Ayen Meen Ador and state MPs on Monday, Governor Tueny said his government will focus on improving security, enforcement of law and order, peaceful co-existence of citizens, and efficient service delivery.<\/p>\n

“We shall embrace a market-based economics development agenda where forces of demand and supply determine the price in the market. The engine for economic growth and development in my tenure shall be agriculture,” he said. “To achieve all these, the state revenue authority must work closely with economic cluster ministries to comprehensively collect state revenues and gear them towards economic growth in the state. We shall rejuvenate all public works of the state physical planning, land survey, engineering, architecture, and housing development in line with a modern urban setting standard.”<\/p>\n

The governor also urged the peace partners and guarantors to promote the full implementation of the agreement for sustainable peace across the country. He said his government will continue to mobilize citizens to support the peace deal.<\/p>\n

“Now Lakes State Legislative Assembly has been sworn in. We have a full functioning of R-TGoNU in Lakes State. We have disseminated the peace agreement to our people across the state and they have owned it. We shall mobilize the citizens to rally behind the revitalized peace agreement for the resolution of conflicts in the Republic of South Sudan,” he added.<\/p>\n

Governor Tueny noted that his government will carry out a comprehensive disarmament exercise in the state and establish three special courts.<\/p>\n

The deputy governor of Lakes State Poth Madit Dut said governance is complete and effective when the three arms of government are in place and functioning as sanctioned by law.<\/p>\n

Madit said the three need synergy in executing their independent roles while calling for the immediate establishment of the municipal councils at the county levels to strengthen governance there.<\/p>\n
