Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>A 40-year-old man is recovering at Panthou Primary Health Care Centre after he was seriously injured in a night attack by unknown assailants in Aweil South County.<\/p>\n

The victim, identified as Bak Mayen Dut, was attacked at his home in Makuei-Alek village on Monday night. Local authorities say the attackers stabbed him multiple times before fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n

Malong Riing, Director of Panthou Payam, told Akol Yam FM that the incident occurred as the man was returning home.<\/p>\n

\u201cBak Mayen Dut was attacked on Monday night and sustained several serious wounds across his body,\u201d Riing said. He added that the victim was rushed to the nearby health facility, where he is currently receiving treatment.<\/p>\n

Security forces have since been deployed to track down the suspects. Riing said authorities have issued an alert to ensure those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice. \u201cWe have informed the relevant security organs to pursue the perpetrators so they can face the law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He condemned the attack, describing it as alarming and unacceptable. \u201cThis is something strange to happen in our payam and county. If someone has an issue with another person, there are lawful ways to address it instead of resorting to violence,\u201d Riing said.<\/p>\n

Riing also cautioned residents against moving at night, warning that ongoing tensions among some community members could escalate into further violence. He expressed concern that some youth returning to the area may be bringing weapons and adopting violent practices from elsewhere.<\/p>\n

The latest incident has heightened fears of insecurity in Aweil South County, where groups of youth have increasingly been accused of carrying out nighttime attacks and robberies.<\/p>\n

Local authorities had earlier ordered patrol units to crack down on criminal activity following a series of reported incidents, including an armed robbery involving a pregnant woman last year. Despite these measures, concerns remain over rising insecurity, which officials link to economic hardship and limited livelihood opportunities in the area.<\/p>\n
