Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The government of South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal State has lifted the immunity of the chairperson and deputy of the State Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) over embezzlement charges.<\/p>\n

RRC Chairperson Suzan John Madut, and her deputy, Dominic Kang Deng are accused of selling a vehicle donated to the commission without consulting the government.<\/p>\n

Last week, the state information minister William Anyuon Kuol told Radio Tamazuj that the government later confiscated the vehicle already sold to a client for SSP 3,800,000.<\/p>\n

“I got the documents for their suspension and that their immunity had been waived after selling the car without proper procedure. The government has already decided to carry out the investigations and it is clear that if you investigate a constitutional post holder, you need to consider lifting their lifting,” Anyuon confirmed over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The commission chair, Suzan John Madut, for her part, said their suspension is politically motivated.<\/p>\n

“Of course, the deputy governor has lifted our immunity. My deputy and I have received our papers today. This case is more politicized and has no connection with issues in the commission,” she stated.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the head of the state Anticorruption Commission, Anei Rok, has vowed to fight corruption at all government levels.<\/p>\n

“My mandate here in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State is to minimize corruption and I came here to protect property or resources, this is my main mandate,” he declared.<\/p>\n
