Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Authorities in the disputed Abyei Administrative Area report that the Anet area of Rumamer County was attacked by a group of unknown gunmen on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

Details of the attack remain scanty.<\/p>\n

Kelek Kon, the Abyei Security Adviser, told Radio Tamazuj last evening that he was traveling to the area to assess the situation.<\/p>\n

“I am traveling to Anet now where there are clashes to assess the damage,” he said.<\/p>\n

Abyei information minister Ajak Deng Mayen also said he received information about the attack in Anet but said he was waiting for detailed information.<\/p>\n

“I heard that some people came and started shooting at the people, this is what I heard and I don\u2019t have further information,” Deng said.<\/p>\n

According to unconfirmed reports, the attackers came from Twic County of neighboring Warrap State.<\/p>\n

A resident who preferred anonymity claimed the attackers raided cattle and destroyed the Anet market.<\/p>\n

“There was an armed group that came with heavy guns on a pick-up and attacked Anet just this evening. They raided cattle and destroyed the Anet Market. This is an organized force hailing from Twic County in Warrap State,” he alleged.<\/p>\n
