Africa-Press – Tanzania. GOOD cooperation in the training of professional driving, technical, and logistical development was the main issue in the productive meeting between the Tanzanian Ambassador to Qatar, Habibu Awesi Mohamed, and the management of Mowasalat (Karwa) Academy at the Academy’s headquarters in Doha.

The discussions held today, May 14, 2025, in Doha, centred on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas including professional driver training, technical and maintenance training, and logistical development.

Karwa Academy, a premier institution established in 2007, is renowned for its comprehensive training programs in driving, transportation, and vehicle maintenance. Since its inception, the Academy has extended its services to Tanzanian nationals, a gesture for which Ambassador Awesi expressed sincere gratitude and deep appreciation particularly to the Government of State of Qatar and the Academy’s management.

During the meeting, Ambassador Awesi proposed closer collaboration between Mowasalat (Karwa) Academy and Tanzanian institutions such as the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) and the National Institute of Transport (NIT) of the United Republic of Tanzania. He suggested staff exchange programs, expatriate collaborations, and mutual attachments for knowledge sharing and capacity building.

The Ambassador also requested consideration for establishing a Karwa Academy branch in Dar es Salaam, and invited the Academy’s technical team to visit Tanzania, proposing reciprocal visits to foster deeper institutional ties. He emphasized that such partnerships would streamline future recruitment processes.

On behalf of Karwa Academy, Mr. Mahmoud Ghalab, Senior Learning and Development Specialist, welcomed the initiative and confirmed the Academy’s readiness to collaborate through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). He highlighted several areas of potential cooperation, including hosting Tanzanian trainees, supporting Tanzanian drivers in acquiring Qatari licenses, and expanding access to educational opportunities at the Academy.

Mr. Ghalab also expressed interest in establishing a Karwa Academy branch in Tanzania and supported the idea of regular exchange visits between relevant institutions in both countries. These proposals, he noted, could be formalized in a final MoU between Mowasalat and the Prime Minister’s Office, Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disabilities of the United Republic of Tanzania, and the President’s Office, Labour, Economy and Investment of the government of Zanzibar.

In addition, special attention will be given to the Tanzanian diaspora in Qatar. Planned initiatives include facilitating driver training and licensing for community members, as well as organizing summer camps for children aged 6 to 14.

These camps will focus on road safety, interpersonal skills, and early talent identification in the transport sector, using interactive and experiential learning methods.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Tanzania-Qatar partnership, with a focus on advancing shared objectives such as economic growth, workforce development, and the enhancement of citizens’ overall welfare.
