Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Minister for Constitution and Legal Affairs, Dr. Damas Ndumbaro, has revealed that Kenyan lawyers who sought to enter Tanzania to represent CHADEMA Chairman, Tundu Lissu, were denied entry because they did not have licenses to practice law in the country.

Dr. Ndumbaro made the clarification today, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, while addressing journalists in Dodoma during a briefing on the achievements of his ministry over the four years of the Sixth Phase Government.

He stated that the lawyers’ intention to practice law in Tanzania without the required licenses was a violation of the country’s laws, which could not be tolerated.

“To my understanding, they do not have licenses to practice law in Tanzania. Therefore, what they intended to do here is a breach of our laws. And why would they come here when they’ve failed in their own country? If your house is on fire, do you try to put it out in your neighbor’s home? That is hypocrisy. And we Tanzanians do not tolerate hypocrisy,” said Dr. Ndumbaro.

He further emphasized that Tanzania upholds and implements human rights, aligning himself with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s recent remarks on the country’s human rights situation.
