Africa-Press – Tanzania. MUSOMA Rural’s Member of Parliament (MP), Professor Sospeter Muhongo has said the government in five years has provided 22.9bn/- to run various development projects in the constituency.
Prof Muhongo unveiled the six phase government’s development funding in a rally recently in Musoma which aimed at highlighting implementation of the ruling CCM’s Election Manifesto 2020-2025.
He commended the government under President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan for allocating the funds which improved social services in Musoma Rural.
As a result, Prof Muhongo said so far water availability in Musoma Rural has reached 80 per cent from 65 per cent in 2020.
Prof Muhongo said all 68 villages in Musoma Rural have ongoing clean water projects which will tap water from the Lake Victoria.
“With this remarkable implementation of the Manifesto, let us thank the government. It has allocated huge amount of funds” Prof Muhongo told Musoma Rural’s residents.
On continuing to provide quality service, he detailed that the government in the 2020/2021 Financial Year provided 400m/- for secondary schools, 2bn/- in the 2021/2022 FY, 2bn/- in the 2022/2023 and 3.9bn/- in the 2023/2024.
“The government has supported our education priorities,” Prof Muhongo said.
Also, he said the government allocated a total of 5bn/- for the health sector which some of it was spent to the construction of health centres for example 750m/- at Kiriba , 520m/- at Makojo , 430m/- at Masisonono and 750m/- Rukuba Island.
More notably, he said their Mwigonelo Hospital in Musoma Rural has been equipped with modern equipment such as X-ray machines and ultra sounds in advancing health care.
On expanding electricity access to all residents, he said all 68 villages have been installed with power infrastructure including electric poles and transformers.
In that regard, he said all villages in the constituency have been connected with electricity with the focus now being on distributing power to hamlets.
Musoma Rural has a total of 374 hamlets.
Prof Muhongo noted by December this year (2025), 274 hamlets will be connected with electricity and 50 per cent of the remaining 100 hamlets will be accommodated in the upcoming 2025/2026 Financial Year.
