Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Ministry of Land, Housing and Human Settlements Development has established a Special Land Clinic to speed up land tenure in areas where the Land Title Improvement Project (LTIP) has been implemented.
30,700 plots are being acquired in the Mbeya Region.
The move by the Ministry of Land is in implementation of the instructions of the Minister of Land, Housing and Human Settlements Development, Deogratius Ndejembi, to ensure that areas formalized through the LTIP project are acquired by its citizens by providing them with land titles.
The special land clinic is being held in Dar es Salaam in Ilala municipality, Dodoma in the Mpunguzi area, Mbeya in the Mbarali council, and Shinyanga region in the Kahama council and Shinyanga Municipality.
Through the clinic, various services are provided, such as instant land ownership for owners who have completed ownership procedures, education to citizens on the use of the digital land services delivery system (e-Land), and assistance in opening a Citizen account on the e-Land system.
Other services are Verification and identification of residents’ plots in the Field, Issuance of payment numbers (control numbers) for various Government fees for ownership, as well as Reception, hearing, and resolution of administrative disputes.
Speaking during the launch of the Land Clinic in Mbarali district, Mbeya region, the Director of Housing Development, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development, Deogratius Kalimenze, said the formalization exercise in Mbarali council involved the ownership of 30,700 plots that were planned and surveyed through the Tenure Security Improvement Project (LTIP). The project was carried out in Rujewa, Ubaruku, Lugelele, Mabadaga, Igulusi, Kongoromswiswi, and Madibira Wards.
‘’Here in Mbarali, the work done is very extensive, more than 30,000 plots have been planned, but the pace of ownership has been challenging, which is why the ministry decided to deploy experts and set up special clinics to reach the citizens closely,’’ said Kalimenze
For his part, Mbarali District Commissioner Colonel Maulid Hassan Surumbu has advised Lands officials to ensure that they put in place specific plans and strategies so that all plots planned and surveyed are owned by their owners.
“I would like to thank the Ministry of Lands and the Mabarali District Council for coordinating and conducting a special land clinic program with great success,” he said.
One of the residents of Igawa in Mbarali Council, Mbeya Region, Sheikh Haroun Ally Mkanyanga, is pleased with the special clinic being conducted by the Ministry of Lands in various areas of the country, where he has assured landowners that they are following up on their documents, as it will help them in various issues including resolving land disputes.
