Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Ministry of Health has officially announced the funding of specialist and superspecialist doctoral training funded through the Samia Health Super-Specialist scholarship program, where, for the year 2025/2026, the government has allocated an amount of 9 billion shillings to educate health professionals.
Giving a statement to the public in Dodoma, Health Minister Jenister Mhagama said applications for the scholarship have been officially launched from August 21 to September 12, 2025.
She said the program managed by the ministry will enable health professionals to be provided with scholarships for master’s studies and fields of high need, which will include funding for fees, fares, research allowance, and subsistence allowance for those studying locally and abroad under the standards set by the Ministry of Health.
“This special program aims to train at least 300 health professionals annually in various priority fields with a set of measures aimed at reducing referrals of patients from abroad, reducing costs for the government and citizens, and attracting medical tourism,” said Mhagama.
She explained that applications should be submitted electronically only through the Ministry of Health website https://esponsorship.moh.go.tz, and applications that are to be processed are those submitted through that system only.
She also said that the criteria for obtaining funding have been explained in detail in the official announcement on the Ministry of Health website, among the criteria are the applicant to be a government servant, a Tanzanian citizen, to have obtained admission from a university recognized by the government and to be going to study priority fields according to the needs of his/her work center.
