Africa-Press – Tanzania. CCM presidential candidate for Zanzibar, Dr Hussein Mwinyi, has pledged that his government will intensify support for farmers to ensure they benefit from and practise productive agriculture.

Dr Mwinyi also underscored the importance of peace and stability, highlighting the successful implementation of CCM’s election manifesto in both Zanzibar and the Union Government.

He made the remarks during a campaign rally on Tuesday at the Uzini Sports Ground in Central District, South Unguja Region and yesterday at Kajengwa Grounds in Makunduchi, respectively.

At Makunduchi, Dr Mwinyi was received with a rousing welcome as thousands of supporters gathered to demonstrate the strength of the ruling party.

In his six-minute address, he called on voters to turn out in large numbers on October 29 to deliver a decisive victory for CCM.

Earlier, candidates contesting various positions in parliament, the House of Representatives and special seats, including Wanu Hafidh Ameir, Dr Haroun Ali Suleiman, Said Azzan Msingiri, Jaku Hashim Ayoub, Rahma Kassim Ali, Mwantatu Mbarouk Jaffar Sanya and Issa Ussi Gavu, commended the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Dr Mwinyi.

They pointed to unity, solidarity and effective implementation of the CCM manifesto as key strengths that would guarantee victory for the ruling party.

The rally opened with a popular song by a Zanzibar musical group, draw- ing in Dr Samia, First Lady Mama Maryam and CCM Secretary General Dr Asha-Rose Migiro, who joined the celebrations on stage.

President Dr Mwinyi arrived at Kajengwa Grounds in Makunduchi at 2:36 p.m. to thunderous applause from the huge crowd, with the turnout viewed as a strong signal of CCM’s electoral dominance.

CCM Secretary General Dr Migiro, alongside her deputy in Zanzibar, Dr Mohamed Said Mohamed Dimwa, outlined the government’s major development gains under the leadership of President Samia and Dr Mwinyi.

They cited achievements in education, health and the economy, stressing the values of peace, stability and reforms while urging citizens to rally behind all CCM candidates.

At Uzini Sports Ground, Dr Mwinyi pledged that, if re-elected for the 2025–2030 term, his government would allocate more resources to empower citizens economically, particularly farmers and livestock keepers.

“The plan includes providing inputs, improved seeds, fertilisers and timely access to reliable markets for their produce,” he said, adding that interest-free microloans would also be extended to small scale producers to sustain their activities.

On livestock challenges, especially the lack of guaranteed markets for animal products, Dr Mwinyi pledged to provide credit facilities and secure reliable outlets for livestock keepers.

He reminded voters of his administration’s record of empowering farmers, livestock keepers and other groups through interest free loans worth 96bn/- in the past five years.

Dr Mwinyi further ar- gued that the opposition lacked credible policies to rival CCM’s achieve- ments, calling on citizens to safeguard peace and reconciliation by re-electing the ruling party.

He also appealed for support for Union President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan and CCM candidates contesting seats in parliament, the House of Representatives and local councils.

CCM Zanzibar Deputy Secretary-General, Dimwa praised Dr Mwinyi for addressing key social and economic challenges, including roads, health, education, water supply, unemployment and access to credit in Central District.

He stressed that leadership required vision and responsibility, qualities he said Dr Mwinyi had demonstrated, expressing confidence that CCM would sweep the October 29 elections.

A local resident, Mr Othman Ibrahim, echoed the call for peace and unity, crediting them for Zanzibar’s progress over the past five years.

Seeking a second term to lead Zanzibar, Dr Mwinyi urged CCM members and all citizens to vote for the ruling party so it can continue driving development across the country.
