Mwinyi Urges Prayers for Peace Before October Election

Africa-Press – Tanzania. ZANZIBAR President Dr Hussein Mwinyi has called on religious leaders and all citizens to pray for peace and stability as the country prepares for the upcoming General Election on October 29th, this year.

Dr Mwinyi, who is seeking re-election, made the appeal after attending a special prayer session at Ijtimai Markaz Mosque in Kianga, West Urban Region, where worshippers gathered to pray for the nation and its leaders.

“We need prayers before, during and after the elections. I urge you to also pray for all candidates so that God may guide them to fulfil their promises and serve the people with sincerity,” he said.

Dr Mwinyi commended the leadership of Tabligh Markaz Kianga for organising the national prayer session and donated 50m/- to support the ongoing construction of the mosque, ensuring a better environment for worship.

Sheikh Kombo Hamad Ali, Amir (leader) of Tabligh Markaz Kianga, praised Dr Mwinyi’s leadership, especially his efforts in promoting peace and unity among Zanzibaris.

Meanwhile, the Deputy SecretaryGeneral of Zanzibar’s ruling party CCM, Dr Mohammed Said Mohammed has urged all political stakeholders to support CCM, describing it as the only party capable of producing visionary leaders.

Speaking during the launch of CCM’s constituency-level campaigns in Amani District, at Karakana VIP grounds in Chumbuni, he called on voters, including opposition supporters, to rally behind Union presidential candidate Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan and Zanzibar presidential candidate Dr Hussein Mwinyi, as well as parliamentary, representative and local government candidates.

NEC member Makame Ramadhan Mbanja who spoke on his behalf said that even opposition parties had benefited from the national development delivered under CCM’s 2020–2025 manifesto.

He highlighted major projects in Amani District, including flyovers, inner roads, modern schools and district hospitals, as tangible evidence of CCM’s achievements.

He also warned citizens against being misled by what he called divisive campaigns from opposition parties, which he claimed threaten the country’s peace and stability.

CCM’s parliamentary candidate for Chumbuni, Ussi Salum Pondeza, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fulfilling its pledges.

He said Amani District is fully prepared to secure victory at all levels, from ward to constituency and deliver development regardless of political affiliation.

The event marked the official launch of CCM’s constituency-level campaigns in Amani District, which includes five constituencies: Mpendae, Chumbuni, Shaurimoyo, Amani and Magomeni.
