Africa-Press – Tanzania. CCM presidential running mate, Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, has expressed optimism over the positive reception of the party’s campaign, attributing the warm response to the visible implementation of the party’s Election Manifesto over the past four years.
Dr Nchimbi stated that his campaigns across the country’s 27 regions have been met with great success, attributing this to the tangible progress achieved under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, achievements that are self-evident and require no defence.
Dr Nchimbi made the remarks yesterday while addressing a public rally at Nansio Grounds in Ukerewe District, Mwanza Region, marking the conclusion of his campaign trail that began on August 29, this year in Mwanza City.
According to Dr Nchimbi, citizens in every region have personally testified to the visible development projects in health, education, water, energy, the economy and empowerment, which demonstrate that there is no need for excessive persuasion as people are convinced by the results they see.
“The success of our campaign stems from the fact that the implementation of the CCM Manifesto is not theoretical but practical. That is why everywhere I went, people declared that President Samia owes them nothing instead, they owe her for the remarkable work she has accomplished,” he said.
He said the government has built strong foundations for development through investments in social services, the economy, energy, agriculture and fisheries.
Dr Nchimbi stressed that the achievements form the basis of hope and confidence in CCM’s victory in the upcoming General Election.
“Every district is determined to deliver a landslide win for President Samia, Members of Parliament and Councillors,” he said.
He further said that Ukerewe holds a rich political and leadership history within CCM, noting that the district has produced some of the country’s most prominent leaders including former Speaker of the National Assembly Pius Msekwa, who also served as the first Executive Secretary of CCM.
He also mentioned Getrude Mongella, a veteran diplomat and women’s rights activist in Africa, who once served as President of the Pan-African Parliament and Chairperson of the UN Beijing Conference, which laid the foundation for global women’s empowerment.
Additionally, he recognised Mama Anna Abdallah (wife of Msekwa) as one of the leaders who mentored him politically during his youth in the CCM Youth Wing (UVCCM), guiding him in mastering persuasive skills within the party’s high-level meetings.
“This island has great historical value to both the party and the nation,” he said.
Dr Nchimbi described Ukerewe as a district known for its hardworking people, with statistics showing that 45 per cent are engaged in agriculture, 25 per cent in fishing and 10 per cent in livestock keeping.
He outlined the five-year development pledges, which include improving the fisheries sector, constructing an international fish market, establishing fish and sardine processing plants and building over 30 kilometres of paved roads, alongside expanding access to electricity, healthcare, water and education services.
He said the CCM government is committed to building new irrigation schemes, health centres, schools and science laboratories to enhance the well-being of Ukerewe residents.
