Africa-Press – Tanzania. The Minister for Agriculture, Daniel Chongolo, has commended the Tanzania Cooperative Bank (Coop Bank Tanzania) for increasing its loan portfolio from 15bn/- in January 2025 to 52bn/-.
The increment represents a growth of 245 percent with deposits having risen from 19bn/- to 60bn/- billion, equivalent to 216 percent growth.
The bank has also expanded its balance sheet from 49bn/- in January 2025 to 114bn/-, reflecting a 133 percent growth.
The Minister congratulated the bank during a discussion between him and the CEO of the Coop Bank Tanzania, Godfrey Ng’urah, today, November 20, 2025, in Dodoma, noting that the bank is like a house with a strong foundation in supporting farmers.
“Our cooperatives cover agriculture from farm preparation to achieving results. Therefore, it is essential for Coop Bank to strengthen financial services for cooperative members to achieve productive goals,” the minister said.
In addition, the minister pledged to continue cooperation with the bank while urging its executives to enhance innovation in service delivery.
“I desire to see that in any business related to agriculture, the Cooperative Bank becomes the first beneficiary,” he stated.
Coop Bank Tanzania’s CEO, Mr Ng’urah, said the bank continues to pursue its mission of promoting inclusive economic growth by providing financial services and enabling the construction of warehouses and markets.
Moreover, he said that the bank has its branches in various regions, including Dodoma, Kilimanjaro, Mtwara, and Tabora.
The bank’s goal is to open four more branches by the end of the year in Dar es Salaam, Kagera, Mwanza, and Songwe,” he said.
