Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRIME Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba has urged youth and Tanzanians in general to refrain from any acts that undermine the dignity and stability of the nation.

He said citizens should resist being swayed by individuals seeking to incite actions that could jeopardise the country’s stability, and instead safeguard the peace that remains a precious gift from God.

The Premier made the remarks yesterday while addressing residents of Singida during his tour of the region, noting that Tanzania belongs to its citizens, not the government or any political party.

“Tanzanian youth, as we reflect on our future, let us remember that God has blessed us with a beautiful country—Tanzania. This nation is yours. It doesn’t belong to the government or political parties, it belongs to all Tanzanians. Political parties exist because we have a country called Tanzania,” Dr Nchemba said.

He said that even if people were facing challenges, they should find ways to resolve them while keeping the nation safe.

Mr Nchemba said that President Samia Suluhu Hassan has formed a team of experts to look into the recent unrest that occurred during the General Election, describing the move as a significant step.

“The President has demonstrated a strong willingness to engage in dialogue, a noble and commendable approach that is far more constructive than confrontation,” he said.

The PM noted that youths are the heirs of the nation and have the responsibility to protect it because everything in the country belongs to Tanzanians. He stressed that national infrastructure is built using citizens’ money, not politicians’ money.

He added that, “No Tanzanian pays taxes because they have excess money or because they are wealthy and simply want to give the government money to build roads. We build by sacrificing. The life of a Tanzanian is a life of sacrifice, and through that sacrifice, we construct roads, schools, railways, and health centres. That is how we do it.”

The Premier stressed that no road has ever been built for the exclusive use of politicians, and when infrastructure is damaged, it is Tanzanians who must sacrifice again to rebuild it.

“We’ve reached a troubling point where some individuals have taken it upon themselves to claim that everyone else is lying and wrong, and sadly, many people blindly accept whatever they say. God has blessed us with our country, Tanzania, which belongs to all Tanzanians, yet these individuals show no fear as they spread baseless accusations,” he said.

Dr Nchemba urged youths to understand that Tanzania does not belong to one person, but to all Tanzanians, and must be protected because no one benefits from destroying the country.

He reminded young people that Tanzania is a nation whose people have always cooperated and respected one another. However, he warned that this unity is now being threatened by growing divisions, which are not part of the country’s culture.

Dr Nchemba warned that similar patterns have long been used in countries endowed with natural resources such as oil, where conflict was fuelled until the resources were exploited. He noted that even in Arab countries, global powers often show hostility because of the opportunities they seek to exploit.

The Prime Minister stated that following Tanzania’s discovery of large gas reserves, which positioned the country among those with abundant resources globally, divisions began to emerge. A similar pattern occurred after the discovery of critical and rare minerals.

“In a time when Tanzania has made significant strides, improving its port, constructing a modern railway that will be the fifth largest in the world and the first in Africa, and boosting trade with neighbouring countries; and in the same year when the tourism sector is flourishing—suddenly, Tanzanians have ‘learned’ to hate each other. Even worse, some are now eyeing our resources,” Dr Nchemba added.

He urged Tanzanian youths not to take for granted the precious treasure God has bestowed upon the nation, noting that few countries in the world possess resources comparable to Tanzania’s.

He added that the President has established a dedicated ministry for youths with its own fund, budget and work plan to address key youth concerns.

“Let us, all Tanzanians, put aside anger and divisions. Let us place patriotism first and put God at the forefront so that we can restore our country to its honour,” he said.
