Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE National Environment Management Council (NEMC) has completed training key government organs on environmental management tools in renewed efforts to implement the Environmental Management Act of 2004

The institutions involved in the training include ministries, institutions, and Municipal and District Councils across the country.

The training was organized through a project aimed at strengthening national capacity to implement the Environmental Management Act of 2004.

The project is funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and seeks to enhance understanding and capacity among employees to effectively enforce environmental laws within their respective workplaces.

The two-day training took place from November 27 to 28, 2025, in Dodoma. During the sessions, participants gained knowledge on conducting environmental impact assessments and developing sustainable environmental conservation strategies

The training aligns with the third pillar of the Tanzania Development Vision 2050, which emphasizes environmental protection.

While opening the training, the Manager for Special Areas and Climate Change at NEMC, Dr Careen Kahangwa, urged participants to use the opportunity to improve performance in their work environments. The program was facilitated by a team of experts from NEMC, along with specialists from the National Audit Office (CAG), the Vice President’s Office, and the private organisation Taka ni Ajira.

Participants were able to engage in in-depth discussions on environmental challenges faced within their institutions and learn best practices for addressing them. As a result, they are expected to improve monitoring systems, reporting mechanisms, and the overall enforcement of environmental laws and regulations nationwide. This significant step will contribute greatly to protecting and preserving the environment for the benefit of current and future generations.
