Africa-Press – Tanzania. Long-distance road races have become a favourite weekend venture in Tanzanian cities, as they generate income for elite runners and provide vital exercise for fun runners.

The 21km Korosho Marathon held in Mtwara today also tells it all

The top beneficiary is Cecilia Ginoka, who pocketed 3.5m/- after winning the 21km race ahead of Vaileth Adam, who pocketed 2.5m/-, and Natalia Sule, who claimed 2m/- after finishing third.

The event chief sponsors were Yass, CRDB and Exim Bank who backed 5km fun race.

EXIM Bank said they are proud to be part of the fourth season of the Korosho Marathon in Mtwara as the sponsor of the 5-kilometre race, reflecting the bank’s continued commitment to supporting sports, youth development, and community wellbeing.

The guest of honour at this event was the Minister for Youth, Hon. Joeli Nanauka, who emphasized the importance of participation from various sectors in promoting health, unity, and social development through sports.

Exim Bank remains committed to taking part in and supporting community-impact projects. The bank believes that sports provide a powerful platform for encouraging positive development, strengthening social connections, and building a healthier nation.
