Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE National Environment Management Council (NEMC) has signed a preliminary agreement with United Platform Solution (UPS) to establish a digital system for monitoring environmental pollution in all development projects across the country.
The signing ceremony took place in the Council’s conference hall in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking at the event on behalf of NEMC’s Director General, Dickson Mjinja, who also serves as the Director of Administration and Finance, said the Council has taken this step to simplify overall environmental management and conservation.
He noted that once completed, the system will make it easier to detect indicators of environmental pollution and obtain accurate and timely information on environmental conditions.
Mamadou Drame from UPS said it has been their mission to collaborate with NEMC to ensure environmental pollution is controlled digitally, thereby protecting the environment for sustainable development.
Explaining how the system will operate, NEMC’s Acting Director of Compliance and Enforcement, Jamal Baruti, said a pilot project will begin in which special devices will be installed in environmental projects, including those located within NEMC’s 13 zones nationwide, an initiative expected to further strengthen environmental management and conservation across the country.
