DODOMA: THE government will step up efforts to nurture youths, to ensure that they are actively engaged in building the nation of today and tomorrow.

Minister of State, President’s Office – Youth Development Mr Joel Nanauka said the main priority of the ministry is to empower young people to participate fully in economic and social development.

He said this is done with the aim of improving their well-being and contributing productively to the sustainable development of the nation. In implementing this priority, he said the ministry focuses on the five key areas.

He said the ministry continues to strengthen economic empowerment for youth by creating a conducive environment for access to capital, providing entrepreneur… In recent months, the government has intensified efforts to elevate youth participation in national development, emphasising both economic empowerment and social inclusion.

Under the leadership of the President Samia Suluhu Hassan and through the Ministry of State in the President’s Office responsible for Youth Development, new strategies and platforms are being rolled out to harness the potential of the country’s youthful population.

A cornerstone of these efforts is the launch of the National Vijana Platform, a first‑of‑its‑kind initiative aimed at creating a centralised space where young Tanzanians can access entrepreneurship support, employment opportunities, and government financial schemes.

The government also unveiled ambitious economic empowerment strategies that seek to transform the role of youth from micro‑enterprise owners into leaders of manufacturing, innovation, and job creation.

Across the country, youth development officers have been urged to collect detailed data on young people’s challenges, linking them to national programmes and opportunities to ensure policy responses match real needs.

At the same time, the government continues to advocate for skills development, employment creation, and access to capital as foundational pillars of youth empowerment.
