Africa-Press – Tanzania. JOURNALISTS in Comoros have requested the Tanzanian Embassy coordinate the establishment of a Kiswahili Journalists and Broadcasters Association, as an initiative to promote the use of the language in the media sector in the Indian Ocean Isles.
The request was submitted by veteran journalist Rachidi Ali during an official meeting with Tanzanian Ambassador to Comoros, Saidi Yakubu. Rachidi highlighted that many journalists in Comoros are eager to learn and use Kiswahili, and that the association would help encourage other broadcasters to use the language professionally.
Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Yakubu praised the journalists for their dedication to Kiswahili and pledged that the embassy would collaborate with relevant authorities in Comoros to facilitate the establishment of the association.
Ambassador Yakubu further emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen language and cultural diplomacy between Tanzania and Comoros, aiming to unite the two friendly nations through education, culture, and communication.
