Africa-Press – Tanzania. Zanzibar’s Minister for Information, Youth, Culture, and Sports, Riziki Pembe, has called on investors in the arts sector to respect Zanzibar’s traditions, values, and cultural norms when investing or organizing festivals on the islands.
Speaking during the Sauti za Busara Festival, Minister Riziki said Zanzibar has investor-friendly infrastructure that supports various sectors, including the arts, business, and film. He noted that this environment has made Zanzibar an attractive destination for investors, citing the filming of The Royal Tour as evidence of the island’s favourable investment climate.
He added that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, under the leadership of President Dr Hussein Mwinyi, continues to improve infrastructure to attract more investors. He emphasized that opportunities are open to anyone interested in investing in festivals or other artistic activities.
“Anyone who wishes to invest in any festival is welcome, and opportunities are available. There are no barriers, but it is important to observe existing traditions, values, and regulations, because every place has its own laws and culture,” said Minister Riziki.
However, he warned that violations of Zanzibar’s cultural values and morals will not be tolerated, urging event organizers and participants to adhere to local ethical standards.
Commenting on the Sauti za Busara Festival, the minister said the event has continued to expand economic opportunities by bringing together artists, businesspeople, and various stakeholders. He noted that this year’s edition recorded positive changes following a change of venue, which increased its appeal and stakeholder participation.
