Africa-Press – Tanzania. MWANZA Regional Commissioner, Mr Said Mtanda has instructed Nyanza Cooperative Union (NCU–1984 Ltd) officials to ensure timely delivery of agricultural inputs to cotton farmers, emphasising efficiency and support for the region’s cotton sector.

The directive was conveyed by Ilemela District Administrative Secretary (RAS), Ms Mariam Msengi on behalf of the RC during the official opening of the union’s 34th general meeting.

Mr Mtanda urged officials to ensure all farmers receive inputs emphasising efficient, timely delivery in line with NCU’s founding objectives.

He further instructed the leaders to carry out their duties transparently by using digital systems in the weighing and marketing of cotton, as directed by the government.

“Ensure digital weighing systems are properly used and continue educating farmers so they can fully benefit from them,”

Mtanda said. He added that the government continues to supervise the warehouse receipt system for legume crops, including pigeon peas and lentils, to maintain quality and support competitive market pricing.

Mwanza Regional Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Ms Hilda Boniface, urged cotton farmers to prepare their produce promptly, highlighting NCU’s plans to open a cotton processing factory in Magu District.
