THE Deputy Minister for Agriculture, David Silinde, is also among the Tanzanian envoys in this 2nd International Conference on Agriculture, Land and Rural Development.

The conference, which began on February 24, 2026, is expected to conclude on February 28, 2026. It has brought together various stakeholders to discuss issues related to agriculture, land use, and rural development.

The main objective of the meeting is for participating countries to present recommendations on the effective use of land for agricultural activities, with the aim of reducing land-related conflicts and accelerating rural development.

The conference also provides an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences and best practices in agriculture, land management, and the use of technology to enhance productivity and improve livelihoods in rural communities.

The Tanzanian delegation is led by Prof Riziki Shemdoe, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – TAMISEMI, who is representing the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the international forum.

Land use and management have been critical issues in Tanzania, where agriculture is a significant part of the economy. The government has been working to address land disputes that often arise due to competing interests among farmers, pastoralists, and developers. This conference serves as a platform for sharing strategies and solutions to improve land governance and agricultural productivity.
