The Media Council of Tanzania has announced the 16th Excellence in Journalism Awards Tanzania (EJAT) set for May 29 in Dar es Salaam. This year’s event will recognize not only individual journalists but also media institutions, aiming to enhance competition and journalism quality. The awards will focus on professional journalism in key areas such as tax collection and gender issues.
Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Executive Secretary of the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT) Ernest Sungura, has announced that the 16th Edition of the Excellence in Journalism Awards Tanzania (EJAT) will be held on May 29 in Dar es Salaam, featuring improvements and new additions.
He said that for the first time, the awards will not only recognize individual journalists but will also include institutions and media houses, a move aimed at broadening competition and enhancing the quality of journalism.
Sungura told The Daily News that preparations are progressing well, with MCT continuing to make improvements to ensure the awards keep pace with changes in science, technology, and the needs of the media industry.
This year, EJAT will place emphasis on professional and analytical journalism, covering areas such as tax and revenue collection, as well as reproductive health and gender issues. The 15th edition of EJAT was held in September 2024.
