Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Controller and Auditor General (CAG) has highlighted many financial reporting weaknesses in some political parties, issuing qualified audit opinions to the Civic United Front (CUF) and the National Reconstruction Alliance (NRA) for the latest financial year.
According to the report, the main concerns identified include incomplete supporting documents for some payments, instances of expenditure that could not be fully verified, and inconsistencies in accounting records.
Submitting the report to the Head of State in Dar es Salaam on Monday, the CAG also noted areas where compliance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and Financial Reporting Standards (FRS) was not fully observed.
In a related development, Mr Kichere said the audit of CHADEMA’s financial statements for the 2024/25 financial year could not be completed.
He explained that the process was halted following information from the Registrar of Political Parties regarding ongoing court proceedings involving the party.
