Tanzania’s Ambassador to Comoros, Saidi Othman Yakubu, has concluded his tour of duty, emphasizing the growing military and strategic ties between the two nations. Discussions with Comoros’ Chief of Defence Forces focused on enhancing collaboration in defense and healthcare, highlighting the importance of their longstanding relationship.

Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA’S Ambassador to Comoros, Saidi Othman Yakubu, has bid farewell to Comoros Chief of Defence Forces, Brig Gen Youssouf Idjihadi, marking the end of his tour of duty while reaffirming growing military and strategic ties between the two nations.

During their discussions, the two leaders focused on expanding collaboration between the Comorian military and Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), particularly in the areas of healthcare services and professional training.

Additionally, Ambassador Yakubu reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to deepening strategic cooperation, stressing that the relationship between the two countries is not only governmental but also deeply rooted in shared history and brotherhood, with continued progress in key sectors including defence and health.

Meanwhile, Comoro’s Brig Gen Idjihadi praised Ambassador Yakubu for his pivotal role in strengthening defence cooperation between Tanzania and Comoros, describing the partnership as rapidly expanding and yielding tangible results.

He also commended the Tanzanian government for facilitating the participation of the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF) in the Comoros’ 50th Independence anniversary parade, noting that the gesture further cemented the longstanding brotherly relations and unity between the two countries.

“Our cooperation with Tanzania has continued to grow at a fast pace and has brought positive outcomes, particularly in enhancing military capacity and relations,” he said.

Tanzania and Comoros share a historical bond rooted in mutual support and cooperation. Over the years, both nations have worked closely in various sectors, particularly in defense and healthcare. This partnership has evolved, with Tanzania playing a significant role in Comoros’ military capacity building and healthcare services, reflecting their commitment to regional stability and development. The recent farewell of Ambassador Yakubu marks a significant moment in their diplomatic relations, showcasing the importance of continued collaboration.
