Africa-Press – Tanzania. DEFENDING champion Ahmed Huwel from Iringa faces his first test on April 26, 2026, when Kisarawe Fally, the 2025 National Rally opener, revs off on April 25 and 26 this year in Dar es Salaam.

Huwel, who won the National Rally Championship (NRC) in 2025, faces stiff opposition from hosts Tufail Amin and Dharam Pandya, who have openly declared their intention to outspeed Huwel in the chase for the national diadem.

As detailed by the event’s Director, Erfan Aladin, both Tufail and Pandya can overshadow Huwel due to their vast knowledge of all routes to be used in this year’s season opener.

Aladin said, Huwel, who will be leading his Mkwawa Rally Team, is among the top-classed drivers enlisted for the season’s opener against other teams from Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Morogoro and Tanga.

According to Aladin, they expect to have more than 25 cars during the event’s flag off on April 25th this year.

Other teams confirmed to bring their drivers to Dar es Salaam for the season’s opener are Assas, Amapiano, Jua Kali, Tufail, and the Pandya Rally team from Dar es Salaam.

Harri Singh’s team is from Kilimanjaro, while Arusha will bank on Gurpal Sandhu’s team.

“ I thank the event’s main sponsor, Eurocable, and the co-sponsor, Picol fr backing this year’s season opener,” he said.

He named the event’s main routes as Kisura, Sungwi, Kisanga, Virani Short Cut, Kitanga, and Kazimzumbwi forest.

He said most drivers are Tanzanians, with a few from Kenya, Zambia, and Uganda.
