Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE UK City of Leicester is set to become a vibrant hub of sporting nostalgia and community celebration as the Cricket Legends of Tanzania gather for their third reunion Tour, marking the group’s 5th anniversary with a three-day programme from May 29 to 31, 2026. Organised by UK-based group leader Kanu Rathod and Team UK, the event promises a blend of formal ceremonies and social activities designed to strengthen bonds among former players, families, and supporters.

According to Rathod, the reunion goes beyond cricket. “Hidden within the programme is fun, fun and more fun, spreading love, happiness, and best wishes for vibrant health. That happens when we stay connected,” he said in a statement inviting participants to the historic gathering.

A key highlight of the event is the participation of Dr Balakrishna Sreekumar, Chairman of the Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA), who will attend alongside his wife, Manju.

Organisers confirmed a significant programme update said Dr Sreekumar will serve as Chief Guest on Day 1, which is dedicated to the Cricket Legends of Tanzania, and as Guest of Honour during the Grand Reception on Day 2.

“We say a big thank you to Dr Sreekumar and Manju for accepting our invitation to grace the occasion and be part of the celebrating family,” Rathod added.

Rathod Chairman of Patel Britherhood Patel Samaj Harish Patel and Vice Chairman of Upanga Sports Club Babulal Chudasama are also expected to attend the event.

However, Chief Admin of the Group, Dinesh Vaishnav will miss the event due to his poor health conditions.

The main reception on Saturday, May 30, will take place at The Jungle Club. The evening will celebrate both the group’s milestone anniversary and the enduring legacy of Tanzanian cricket.

The event will also be graced by Leicester’s Lady Mayor, Teresa Aldred, who is scheduled to attend as Chief Guest for the reception.

The three-day programme has been carefully curated to honour former players while fostering unity among the diaspora.

Beyond formal speeches and recognitions, attendees can expect a lively atmosphere filled with camaraderie, shared memories, and cultural exchange.

With participants expected from across the UK and beyond, organisers are encouraging early attendance.

“Leicester is waiting,” Rathod said, extending a warm invitation to all members and supporters of the cricketing community.
