India has invited Tanzania to participate in the Fourth India-Africa Forum for Cooperation, set for May 2026. The invitation was made during a meeting between Tanzanian and Indian officials, emphasizing the strengthening of economic ties through investment and trade. Both nations aim to enhance cooperation in key sectors such as technology, health, and infrastructure.
Africa-Press – Tanzania. INDIA has extended an invitation to Tanzania to participate in the Fourth India-Africa Forum for Cooperation, expected to be held in late May 2026 in India.
This was stated at a joint meeting between the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Dr Samwel Shelukindo and the Indian Ambassador to Tanzania, Bishwadip Dey, in Dar es Salaam.
During the talks, Tanzania and India have focused on strengthening their cooperation through economic diplomacy, with the aim of increasing investment, trade, and joint development opportunities.
The leaders’ talks focused on discussing the progress of cooperation between them as well as the direction of its growth, in opening more doors of cooperation in key sectors including industry, technology, ICT, health and infrastructure, a move that can stimulate economic growth and benefit the people of both sides.
Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Shelukindo thanked the Government of India for its efforts to strengthen strategic relations with Tanzania, noting that the move has contributed to promoting economic diplomacy through investment and trade, thereby bringing benefits to both parties in various sectors.
He also stressed the commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation to develop and strengthen close cooperation with relevant stakeholders, to ensure that preparations for the meeting are carried out effectively, as well as to facilitate Tanzania’s full participation in all stages of the preparation and implementation of the meeting.
For his part, Bashwadip Dey said that the Government of India intends to strengthen cooperation with Tanzania by providing experts who will deliver lectures on various cross-cutting issues including the benefits and harms of the mind and equipping young people with skills to be independent using modern technologies.
The India-Africa Forum for Cooperation is a significant platform aimed at enhancing collaboration between India and African nations. Established to foster economic and strategic partnerships, the forum has seen various initiatives aimed at improving trade, investment, and development across multiple sectors. The upcoming forum in 2026 is expected to build on previous successes, focusing on sustainable growth and mutual benefits for participating countries.
