THREE CANDIDATES PASS AWAY AS NEC SUSPENDS ELECTION IN FOUR WARDS

AfricaPress-Tanzania: REGISTERED voters have failed to elect their councilors in four wards in the just ended election following the death of three candidates and fault noticed in the ballot papers.

The Chairman of National Electoral Commission (NEC), Judge (Rtd) Semistocles Kaijage broke the news at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, few minutes before closure of voting exercise.

According to the chairman, election of councilors has been suspended in Igumbilo, Kisingia and Nyamhanga due to deaths candidates

In Kibosho Kati ward, according to Justice Kaijage, some names were not recorded of councillorship contestants.

New date for election rerun in the mentioned wards will be announced later, he added.

Meanwhile, the NEC boss said no one who has lodged irregularities as it has been alleged in social media platforms and advised Wananchi to ignore such reports.
