Africa-PressTanzania. TWENTY Tanzanian companies from production and manufacturing in various sectors have benefited from the GIZ creating perspective project.

This was revealed by the Executive Director of Confederation of Industries Tanzania (CTI), Leodgar Tenga, when opening the GIZ stakeholders briefing session in Dar es Salaam

He said the project has helped many Tanzanian companies in capacity building so that they become more competent in their daily activities.

“The good thing is that in order for someone to prosper must see what others have done so that is why we see this project has come at right time because we need our people to learn the experience from Germany,” he said.

He said the project has helped Tanzanian companies and some of them visited Germany where they gained experience from developed industries from that country.

Speaking about CTI activities supported by GIZ, the Training Coordinator of CTI training Unit George Selestine said they facilitated training on good manufacturing practice, supported training on plastic materials to staff and CTI members.

He said through GIZ support, they visited some 37 industries in Arusha, Mwanza, and Tanga regions, conducted tax proposal training, procurement of unit equipment and tools and the President Manufacturer of the Year Awards (PMAYA).

Speaking about CTI expectations from GIZ, Mr Selestine said they expect more activities to support CTI members’ performance and efficiency, training need analysis to provide relevant training, more participation and partnership in providing services to CTI members.

The Advisory GIZ Creating Perspective, Lydia Koch, said the pilot project creating perspectives is a joint initiative of East Africa Community (EAC), Federation of Germany Industries, East Africa Business Council (EABC) and GIZ.

She said the initiative has identified 74 companies in East Africa Region, 20 from Tanzania operating in production or manufacturing in various sectors with potential for scaling up their products and growth.

She said the identified companies has received trainings, mentoring and advisory services by Germany experts as well as establishing a strong business partnership between East Africa and Germany companies.

She said the project is funded by the government through Germany Federal Ministries of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

“In the course of implementation of the project, the GIZ creating perspective has offered the capacity building to small and medium Enterprises (SMEs) project beneficiaries through training and coaching in various topics as per their needs as well as delegation trip to Germany for knowledge transfer and B2B meetings with potential business partners,” she said.

She went on that in Tanzania the project collaborate with Ministry of Industry and Trade, Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI), Tanzania Private Sectors Foundation (TPSF), and Tanzania Chamber of Commerce and Trade (TCCIA)
