Azam seek redemption in Ruvu Shooting duel

Africa-PressTanzania. AZAM seek to reduce the point gap with the second-placed Simba and leaders Young Africans when they hosts Ruvu Shooting at Azam Complex, Chamazi in Dar es Salaam today.

Both clubs would be playing their 16th game of the Mainland Premier League, holding top places in the standings.

Azam who are currently third on the log have pocketed 28 points behind Simba with 32 and the leaders Young African 37 points while Ruvu is fourth after collecting 24 points.

Their current positions testify how good they have been since the 2020/21 season began. In case any of the two wins, they will not elevate their positions, but they will extend their chance to climb up.

Azam FC in their previous game were forced to a 2-2 draw with Namungo. Apart from the draw Azam have not won since November 5th as they suffered defeats to Kinondoni Municipal Council and Yanga.

They also stamped two more draws with Gwambina and Biashara United.

Thus; in their last five games they have only pocketed three points after registering three draws and lost twice which gave Yanga the opportunity to command the league with nine-point lead.

Azam will then be looking forward to rebuilding their club fans faith after spoiling their title race investment. Ruvu on their side, have pocketed eight points in their league games after securing two wins, two draws and lost once, 2-1 to Yanga.

These results witness Ruvu Shooting at a good level and they are among the most competitive teams especially when it comes to the bigwigs. For instance Ruvu defeated Simba 1-0 in October.

And last year Azam won at home 2-1 while Ruvu Shooting won 1-0 at their home. On the other encounter Mwadui will welcome Polisi Tanzania at Mwadui Complex.

Mwadui will have a lot to do to avoid their poor form this season. They have so far faced 10 defeats, which is the biggest compared to 17 other teams.

Mwadui will need to do better to avoid relegation after a continuation of poor results, they are bottom-placed with only 10 points while their opponents; Police Tanzania are sixth with 21 points.

Biashara United will host Mbeya City at Karume Stadium in Mara. The locals have been striving to get good results at home and so are Mbeya City who are struggling to get out of relegation danger.

Kagera Sugar will host Coastal Union at Kaitaba Stadium. They are both tied in points, but Kagera are slight above Coastal by superior goal
