ECONOMICS Professor Prosper Ngowi has hinted on strength of personal and institutional branding in the current competitive market.
“The moment you brand yourself it makes you say little about yourself in the market,” he said, arguing, “because people will have already known you or your institution.”
He stated this yesterday at a training to human resources officers and students on how to brand themselves in the market. Mzumbe University Dar es Salaam Campus College (MDCC) organised the one-day training.
Prof Ngowi, who doubles as Principle of the MDCC, noted that the university has realized importance of people or institutions to brand themselves and stand out from a crowd.
“When you brand yourself, you become different from others in the market and you don’t get trouble of explaining much about yourself in the market,” Prof Ngowi stated.
Coordinator of the Human Resources Society of Tanzania (HRST), Mr Emmanuel Mnyawami, emphasized that the world has become so competitive in every professional field that needed individual efforts to stand out.
“Therefore this training is aimed at building capacity to human resources professionals to enable them stand out in the market,” Mr Mnyawami said.
Mr Carl Bosser, facilitator of the training, argued that brands always stand out because of their uniqueness, and that depends on individuals to make hard decisions.
“You should then ask yourself how do you present your brand to the market because the brand isn’t something to put in a shelf, “ he said.
