AfricaPress-Tanzania: Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Mwinyi led Isles leaders and residents to receive the body of the late Dr John Magufuli at Abeid Amani International Airport on Tuesday morning.
Air Tanzania plane carrying the body of Tanzania’s iconic leader left Dodoma Airport at around 8:40am and landed in Zanzibar at approximately 9:30.
Mourners, majority in black and white outfits, gathered at the airport before the body of the Magufuli moved to Abeid Amani Karume Stadium.
Yesterday, Urban West Regional Commissioner, Indrissa Kitwana confirmed on Monday that preparations for receiving the body of the late President Magufuli were already completed.
“Preparations are ready and we are waiting to receive the coffin in Zanzibar to allow people to pay their last respects to their beloved Magufuli,” the regional boss said.
