Africa-Press – Tanzania. Alliance for Democratic Change (ADC) Chairman, Hamad Rashid has highlighted that political will and mutual understanding between Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar are the main reasons for the sustainability of the near six decades old union.
Speaking on Monday at a forum held to commemorate the 57th anniversary of the then Tanganyika and Zanzibar, Rashid said the union was a result of so much sacrifices.
He says “a lot of sacrifices were made on making and protecting the union,” he said calling youths in the country to ensure the merger between the two countries continues for the interest of current and future generations.
“We need to remain bold and strengthen the union, this should be our number one priority, issues of the union should be on the interest of political parties, but for the will of citizens,” he said.
