Africa-Press – Tanzania. President Yoweri Museveni has been sworn in for a 6th elective term in office.
Early this year, Uganda’s election commission declared incumbent Yoweri Museveni the winner of the presidential election, extending his 35-year rule.
Museveni garnered a total 5.85 million votes, equivalent to 58.64 percent of the total vote, trailing the main opposition candidate Robert Chagulanyi alias Bobi Wine who came second with 3.48 million votes (34.83 percent).
Museveni, was inaugurated at Kololo independence grounds, in a ceremony attended by African dignitaries including the Tanzanian president, Samia Suluhu Hassan, the president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, Burundi’s president, Evariste Ndayishimiye and Somalia’s President Mohamed Abdullah Mohamed.
Others were Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir, Guinean President Alpha Conde and of Namibia’s Dr. Hage Gottfried Geingob.
