Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Former Hai District Commissioner, Lengai ole Sabaya was arraigned at the Arusha Resident Magistrate Court on Friday facing multiple charges including misuse of public office.
Sabaya has been detained by authorities since his arrest in Dar es Salaam by the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) last week. It has not been clear the details of charges he will face and whether he will enter a plea to alleged charges.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan suspended the district commissioner in May this year to pave way for investigation. A statement released in May 13 did not give further details. He was appointed by the late President John Magufuli on July 28, 2018 and he has held position such as the Chairman of UVCCM in Arusha.
