Africa-PressTanzania. THREE permanent secretaries and two deputies took oath of office before Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Mwinyi on Monday, pledging hard work and exemplary performance in their respective dockets.

Newly-appointed Permanent Secretary (PS) in the President’s Office, Labour, Economy and Investments, Dr Habiba Hassan Omar acknowledged the tough task ahead but said she is well prepared to deliver.

“My new task entails performance; not mere rhetoric, I’m determined to serve Zanzibaris to the best of my ability,” DrHabiba promised, highlighting her priorities as improvement of individual economies, attraction of investors and creation of conducive environment for employers and employees.

DrHabiba, the replacement of Mussa Haji Ali who has assumed similar post in the President’s Office, State House, said under the envisaged blue economy, Zanzibar needs serious investors.

Deputy Secretary in the President’s Office, Finance and Planning, Aboud Hassan Mwinyi warned embezzlers and thieves of public resources, saying he will stand tough against dishonest public servants.

“For the government to deliver on its promises to wananchi; stringent revenue collection measures and discipline in expenditures are inevitable,” argued MrMwinyi, pledging to enforce financial discipline in the ministry and the entire government.

Other officials whom President Mwinyi swore in at a brief ceremony at State House are Mussa Haji in the President’s Office, State House; IssaMahfoudh Haji in the President’s Office, Regional Administration, Local Government and Special Departments; and deputy PS in the President’s Office, Regional Administration, MikidadiMbaroukMzee.

Mr Haji replaces Masoud Hussein Iddi whom, according to State House sources, has been assigned other duties after serving in the ministry for 168 days.
