Africa-Press – Tanzania. DEFENDING champions Joyce Ndyetabura has confirmed to participate in CEOs Golf tournament with a sole aim to defend the throne she won last year.
Going officially as CEOs Luxury Retreat Golf tournament, the one-day event is organised by Sea Cliff Resort and Spa Golf Club of Zanzibar and will tee off at the nine-hole course on September 4th this year in the Isles.
Ndyetabura joins over 40 golfers, including the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Damas Ndumbaro in the list of the confirmed players. Ndyetabura won the last year tournament after posting three-under 39 stable ford points to win her first CEOs title.
The Sea Cliff Golf Club manager,Elias Soka told the ‘Daily News’ from Zanzibar yesterday that preparation for this year’s tournament is on a top gear and everything is in place ahead of the massive tee off.
He said the list of players also includes Sophie Nyanjera, the former Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) administrator and Pricilla Karobia coming here from Kenya. Soka added they are also pleased to receive entry from Tanzania Peoples Defense Forces (TPDF) Lugalo club Captain Japhet Masai who will be accompanied by several other golfers from the club.
“Everything is going fine, golfers are responding well. Currently we have over 40 confirmations and this week we expect more confirmations from Uganda and Kenya too,” he said.
According to Soka, they have special offers for players include discounted rates on accommodation, but must be booked in advance. In partnership with Auric Air Service Ltd, Soka said they give chance for golfers to enjoy special airfare on Auric Air DAR/ZNZ/DAR, & ARUSHA/ZNZ Charter Flight also available with a good luggage allowance.
Soka insists for those wishing to take part in the event to confirm early as they have a limited number of slots. The long-day 18 holes event will bring together CEOs and diplomats golfers from around the African countries. He noted that the 18- hole stable ford tournament is open for individual men and ladies golfers.
70 US dollar is set as entry fee for those wishing to take part in the event which includes sharing of golf cart, half way lunch and gala dinner in the evening after the tournament. So far Exim Bank, Qatar Airways, John Walker, ComNet, Sea Cliff Resort and Spa Zanzibar, PrintPlus, Auric Air, Serena Hotels, Park Hyatt Zanzibar, Resolution Insurance and Rahisi have agree to bankroll the event.
