Africa-Press – Tanzania. EDUCATION, Science and Technology Deputy Minister Kipanga Juma Omary has directed a contractor constructing the International Vocational and Education Training Centre (VETA) at Nyakato Ward, on the outskirts of Bukoba Municipality to ensure that the project is completed before November, this year.
He issued the order during his recent tour of the region, where among other things, he inspected the ongoing implementation of VETA project that has reached about 80 per cent.
“I commend the good progress made so far. However, the contractor should ensure that the project is completed by November, this year to enable students start their studies,” he said.
Earlier this year, the late President John Magufuli praised the residents of Nyakato Ward for offering over 10 hectares of land without demanding any compensation for the construction of the VETA centre.
In appreciation, he directed the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Water to ensure that they provide electricity and clean water to the surrounding villagers. He commended the governments of China and the United Kingdom for supporting Tanzania in various key sectors including education, health and other infrastructure.
He also inaugurated the rehabilitated buildings at Ihungo Secondary School which cost 11.1bn/- with the financial support from UK.
“When Tanzania approached the UK following the earthquake which occurred in September 2016 the country responded promptly by donating a total of 6.1bn/- for the rehabilitation of the school while the Tanzania government contributed about 4.8bn/-.
